In the next section, you will learn how to post bail for someone who was arrested and the best option for your situation.

How To Post Bail or Use a Bail Bondsman in Martin County

Arrest information can be a valuable tool in many ways. Through an arrest record search you may have found that a friend or loved one was recently arrested and will not be released without a bond submitted for their bail. When one posts bail, they can remain out of jail during the duration of their criminal.

If you want to assist a person post bail that is currently in custody you have two primary options to consider.

Bail Bondsman: Many people use this option because most of the risk is on the bail bondsman. In this situation, you will pay a fee to the bail bondsman for 10% of the amount set by the judge. From there, the bondsman will take all the steps to post the bail and have the individual released. If the person skips town and doesn’t show up for their hearing, the entire risk is on the bail bondsman.

Self-Bail Process: If you do not want to get a bail bondsman involved, you can post a bond with your own assets. You may post bail in the form of a cash bond or by placing a piece of property with sufficient equity in it as collateral. While you do not have to pay any fees, you take the risk of losing the bond if the defendant does not comply with the requirements in place for their release from jail.

For specific information on posting a bond in Martin County, you can contact the Sheriff’s Office Booking Unit at 772-220-7220.8

Use the information provided above to assist you in determining the best option for posting bail in your particular situation.
